How can we ensure quality in Distance Learning?

Continuing pharmacy education (CE) providers have been offering distance learning in the form of homestudy materials and satellite or telephone conferences long before the Internet became popular for CE. Although ACPE’s Criteria for Quality (pdf, 156 KB / word, 76 KB) apply equally to "traditional" and innovative approaches for delivering CE, the interpretation and application of the Criteria for Quality may be affected by the method of delivery. In response to the continuous growth of on-line CE, ACPE is working with accredited providers to update the Criteria for Quality to reflect changes in the current educational environment. ACPE staff will also be happy to assist accredited providers with issues regarding technology and distance learning through staff consultation, workshops, on-line documents and training. Please contact our office with any questions.
