Adjusting Audio Settings

If you'd like to increase the quality of the audio you're receiving in the course, we're here to help!  In order to increase your computer's audio quality, we must first determine where the quality is diminishing.

Problems with Sound

We offer general suggestions for each type of problem below.  Please feel free to contact our tech support for more specific suggestions if you continue to experience issues after trying these suggestions.

1. Volume

a. Check to make sure your speakers are plugged in and the volume is turned on.
b. Right-click (clicking on the right mouse button, instead of left) on the speaker that appears on the control bar underneath the slides, and adjust the volume upwards.
c. For PC Users, you can also adjust your computer's volume settings by double-clicking on the speaker on the lower right hand section of your desktop tool bar.  This will pull up a panel allowing several adjustments.

2. Static

Try stopping the presentation and starting it again.  Like a telephone, sometimes it takes a second try to "get a good line".  If the problem continues, it may be your speakers or sound card.  Try other presentations and see if the problem persists.  If not, traffic on the Internet may have introduced the static.  When the traffic changes, the problem abates.  However, if the problem continues, try accessing the presentations on another computer.  If you don't experience the problems there and the problem is significant, you may wish to upgrade your speakers and/or sound card.

3. Disconnects

If you've had problems losing your Internet Connection when browsing the web, you may wish to contact your Internet service provider for suggestions.  (If they are not responsive, you may wish to consider another provider.)  Like Static and Interference, Disconnects may also be caused by Internet Traffic.  Try connecting again.  A second "line" may be better.  If the problem persists, you may wish to try connecting to the presentation at another time of the day.
