Tofade T, Franklin B, Noell B, Leadon K. Evaluation of a Continuing Professional Development program for first year student pharmacists undergoing an Introductory Pharmacy Practice Experience. Innov Pharm. 2011; 2(2): Article 40.

This study examined the effects of online and live training programs on first year pharmacy students’ ability to write SMART learning objectives and document learning activities during a hospital introductory pharmacy practice experience. Seventy-five percent of the submitted learning activity worksheets reported discussion with peers and /or other health providers as a stimulus for learning. Fifty-three percent of the objectives were entirely fulfilled during the rotation and 47% were partially fulfilled. Live trainees performed significantly better than online trainees in writing SMART learning objectives.
