How has accreditation helped shape the quality and impact of your CE programming?

Northeast Kentucky Area Health Education Center

Reaching accreditation standards enables our team and our committee to uphold the highest standards of education, as well as providing a diversity of format and content.

Society of Critical Care Medicine

We are constantly looking at our programs and trying to find ways to improve what we are providing and diversifying the ways they can earn credit.

American College of Apothecaries

ACPE accreditation has given me a solid framework to follow, which helps keep our CE activities consistent and high quality. The standards guide everything—from identifying the practice gap to making sure our content is accurate and balanced. Accreditation also keeps me focused on continuous improvement and staying aligned with what’s going on in pharmacy practice. Overall, it has helped strengthen our program and build trust with the learners who come to us for education.

What role has CE played in advancing your organization’s mission in health professions education?

Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy

It is essential to us to keep the strong connections with our alumni, preceptors and supporters. It brings different parties together to advance our mission on providing healthcare to all populations.

University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy

Continuing Education is an important part of our college’s mission. As the mission of the college of pharmacy is to “prepare the next generation of innovative and collaborative pharmacists…” “Providing comprehensive pharmacy education” “Growing alumni and partner relationships” and “Foster faculty and staff development.”

University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy

Since the University is in a state with the lowest population in the US, our role is to work with those pharmacists in Wyoming to understand that the University and School of Pharmacy can be a resource for education and collaboration. Outside out state, our mission is to provide quality and trusted programming.

What has been your proudest accomplishment as a CE provider or administrator?

Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University

Feedback of continuing education recipients. My goals are to develop a product that gives results and allows a registrant to walk away from a continuing education offering that builds and promotes practice growth. Consistent responses from post participant surveys have been complimentary of educational program offerings.

Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy

Creating the annual Pain & Addiction Summit. The program began in 2018 and we only missed one year, 2020, due to the pandemic. We now have about 150 professionals on campus each April for the event.

CEImpact

Our proudest accomplishment as a CE provider has been evolving alongside the profession while staying grounded in learning science and evidence-based education. As the quality, speed, and volume of information have increased, we have remained committed to delivering timely, credible education while continually adapting our approaches. Striving to stay on the frontline of innovation without compromising educational integrity has been a defining and rewarding aspect of this work.

What do you see as the biggest opportunity for CE in the next decade?

American College of Apothecaries

I think the biggest opportunity is expanding how CE is delivered—making it more flexible, more accessible, and more focused on real-world skills. Pharmacy practice is changing quickly, and CE can help pharmacists and technicians keep up with new therapies, new technologies, and new roles in patient care. Virtual learning, short modules, and hands-on training will all play an important part. CE has a chance to really shape the future of the profession by helping the workforce stay confident and prepared.

Xavier University of Louisiana College of Pharmacy

Things change fast and in the dynamic environment, CE delivers standards of practice and critical information to care for the patients.

University of South Carolina College of Pharmacy

Along with staying on top of the trends in the industry, I see the biggest opportunity is using technology as a benefit. Like using VR headsets and having smaller but focused CE.

What advice would you give to new CE providers or administrators today?

University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy

Enjoy the opportunity to work with many different people both from the faculty and participant side. I find that pharmacists are more than willing to provide feedback if asked, especially if they see that we actually do something with the information they provide to us.

Wilkes University Nesbitt School of Pharmacy

If possible, attend an in-person CE administrator’s workshop. Networking with other providers is almost as important as the learning that occurs in the sessions..

iCare Pharmacy Service Inc.

The advice I would give to new CE providers is to network with other providers who share similar goals, embrace technology, and do not be afraid to contact ACPE staff for guidance.
