This article relays the opinions of the authors on the benefits of using CPD. They briefly discuss the core principles of reflection, planning, learning and evaluation of CPD, which leads into an explanation of why CPD is a more valuable learning process than CE. They also specifically argue that new practitioners need to adopt the CPD process and describe its implications for patient care.
