This article provides a summary of a number of CPD requirements and CE practices in both leading CPD/CE countries, as well as a variety of health professions. The authors discuss the difficulties of a wide variation in guidelines, requirements, and terminology. They call for clarity and consensus around terminology and expectations. They also point out that requirements are not always evidence based and that the published literature in this area is not reflective of current activities.
