Peter J. (P.J.) Hughes, PharmD, MSEd, BCPS is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice and Director of Faculty Success and Continuing Professional Development for Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He has also served as Director of Continuing Pharmacy Education and Director of Pharmacy Technician Education for the Samford University McWhorter School of Pharmacy. Dr. Hughes is a past chair of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy Continuing Professional Development Section. Dr. Hughes received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Alabama and his Doctor of Pharmacy and Master of Science in Education degrees from Samford University.

Lindsay Kaster, Pharm.D., BCOP

Associate Chief of Pharmacy for Inpatient Services, Boise VA Medical Center (Vice Chair)

Lindsay Kaster is the Associate Chief of Pharmacy for Inpatient Services at the Boise VA Medical Center, where she completed her PGY1 residency.  She completed a PGY2 Oncology residency at St. Luke’s Mountain States Tumor Institute (MSTI), and worked as a clinical oncology pharmacist at the VA prior to taking her current position.  Lindsay was named the TOP Oncology Pharmacist in 2011 by The Oncology Pharmacist, a hem-onc publication.  She has been in various leadership capacities within pharmacy organizations, including ASHP, Association of VA Hematology-Oncology (AVAHO), Idaho Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ISHP), and the Hematology-Oncology Pharmacists Association (HOPA).  She has led many educational initiatives within pharmacy, including launching and coordinating the VHA oncology board certification study group and acting as the CPE Administrator for ISHP for 4 years.  Lindsay spends her free time listening to audiobooks while chasing after her 3 energetic daughters.

Crystal Carter, MPA

Client Strategist, Louisiana Pharmacists Association; Vice President, Association Management Strategies 

Crystal Carter has served as Client Strategist for the Louisiana Pharmacists Association since 2007.  Her work with LPA includes the role of ACPE administrator, as well as management of membership services, digital and printed publications, meetings and events, as well as website and social media content.  She serves as Secretary of the Louisiana Pharmacy Congress, a collaboration of educational, business, and regulatory organizations within the pharmacy profession.  Mrs. Carter is also the Vice President of Association Management Strategies, an association management company, which manages multiple trade and professional associations.  In addition to ACPE accreditation, she oversees educational programming for different industries, including a federally approved Registered Apprenticeship Program.  Mrs. Carter received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Centenary College of Louisiana and a Master of Public Administration degree from Louisiana State University’s E.J. Ourso College of Business

Nicholas Lehman, PharmD, BCACP

Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences Clinical Pharmacist – UnityPoint West Des Moines Family Medicine & Internal Medicine Clinics

Nic Lehman, PharmD, BCACP, is an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Practice at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences. He also serves as a clinical pharmacist at the UnityPoint West Des Moines Internal Medicine and Family Medicine Clinics and as an Adjunct Clinical Professor at the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine.  Dr. Lehman received his Doctorate of Pharmacy from The University of Iowa in 2003. He completed a Primary Care Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Iowa City VA Medical Center in 2004, and joined the faculty at Drake in 2010.  Dr. Lehman obtained Board Certification in Ambulatory Care Pharmacy in 2012, and is an active member of the American Pharmacists Association and the Iowa Pharmacy Association. Dr. Lehman’s current practice and research interests include anticoagulation therapy, diabetes, transitions of care and immunizations.

Jodie V. Malhotra, PharmD 

Director of Practitioner and International Development and an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (CU) 

Jodie Malhotra is the Director of Practitioner and International Development and an Associate Professor at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences.  Her education includes a PharmD (Massachusetts College of Pharmacy), PGY-1 residency (Cincinnati VA Medical Center), and a Psychiatric Pharmacy residency (South Texas Veterans Health Care System).  Her past positions include Assistant Professor at University of the Incarnate Word, Experiential Education Director at Regis University School of Pharmacy and Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacist at Denver Health Medical Center.  As the Director of Practitioner and International Development, she oversees the CU Office of continuing professional development (CPD).  The CU CPD office coordinates live programs, certificate training programs, webinar series, and enduring programs. She is also responsible for leading communication and relationship-building with international contacts, promoting international academic programs, serving as a liaison with local and international pharmacy faculty, coordinating the clinical training and development of international faculty, and coordinating the development of site-specific international programs.  She has created training programs for pharmacists around the locally, nationally and internationally, including a PharmD program in Cairo, an ambulatory care training program in Qatar, numerous ACPE certificate programs, and a preceptor development program that has been offered in multiple international settings.  Dr. Malhotra’s teaching focuses are psychiatric pharmacy, global health, and patient centered communication.  She has taught in a variety of different settings and formats including online and live didactic lectures, online and live small group discussions and facilitations, and clinical assessments.

Jennifer Pauley, PharmD, BCPS, BCOP

Clinical Coordinator, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memphis, Tennessee

Dr. Pauley is currently Clinical Coordinator and Residency Program Director for the PGY2 Oncology residency program at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and Assistant Professor at The University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center, College of Pharmacy in Memphis, Tennessee.  She is board certified in pharmacotherapy and oncology.  Jennifer received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from The Ohio State University and completed a Pediatric Pharmacotherapy Residency at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas.

For the past 20 years, Jennifer has worked at St. Jude, with a primary focus on pediatric leukemia and lymphoma.  In addition to overseeing the pediatric oncology residency program, she is also the administrator for the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education at St. Jude.  Jennifer is a member of various committees within the hospital including the Antimicrobial Utilization and Improvement Committee, Graduate Medical Education Committee, Continuing Medical Education Committee, and Medication Use Safety Team.  Jennifer is also a member of local, state and national organizations.  She is currently on the ASHP SAG for Pediatrics and is a member of the planning committees for both HOPA & PPAG.  Jennifer is serving on the Tennessee Society of Health-System Pharmacists Residency Committee and is also the secretary for the Mid-South College of Clinical Pharmacy.

Ginger Scott, RPh, MS, PhD

Professor, Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy and Director of Continuing Education at the West Virginia University School of Pharmacy 

Virginia (Ginger) G. Scott, PhD, MS, RPh, FAPhA is a Professor and Director of Continuing Education in  the Department of Pharmaceutical Systems and Policy at West Virginia University (WVU). Dr. Scott received her PhD from the University of Minnesota and masters from Purdue University both in Social and Administrative Pharmacy and Bachelor of Sciences in Pharmacy from the University of Kentucky. Prior to academia, she had experience in both hospital and community pharmacy. Dr. Scott’s experiences related to continuing pharmacy education over the last four decades are extensive. These experiences include being the Director of CPE at West Virginia University (WVU) School of Pharmacy for the last 22 years, completed a six month sabbatical to learn and enhance her knowledge of Continuing Professional Development, and offered a CPE rotation for students in Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experiences. Dr. Scott has served in all leadership capacities in the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) Continuing Professional Development Section, been a past member of the AACP Board of Directors, and served as a CPE field reviewer.

Kathryn (Kathy) Schott, PhD

Vice President, Operations for CEimpact, a pharmacy education company

Kathy Schott received a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa. After a number of years in regulatory, marketing, and communication positions, Kathy completed a master’s degree in Adult Learning and Organizational Performance at Drake University. For more than 12 years, she served in various roles as a member of the experiential education team at Drake University College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences, with an emphasis on student and preceptor professional development. During the last four years of that period, Kathy earned a Ph.D. in Education from Drake University and completed a dissertation focused on the role of co-curricular engagement in student professional development. She currently serves as Vice President, Operations for CEimpact, a pharmacy education company. Her professional interests include assessment, continuing professional development, and enhancing learner experience.

Rubina M. Singh, BS Pharm, PharmD

Senior Vice President, Education & Publications, Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy

Rubina (Ruby) M. Singh is the Senior Vice President of Education and Publications at the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP). In her current role, Dr. Singh oversees AMCP’s Education Program and the Journal of Managed Care & Specialty Pharmacy. She also manages AMCP’s continuing pharmacy education accreditation program and serves as a co-liaison to ASHP on the Managed Care Residency Program. Dr. Singh has experience in both clinical practice and working for national pharmacy associations, with more than 25 years of experience in developing educational activities for pharmacists.

Dr. Singh received a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science and a Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Rutgers University, Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. She also completed a residency at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in drug information practice.

Elliott M. Sogol, PhD, RPh, FAPhA 

Director for Postgraduate Education and Continuing Education at the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy

Elliott M. Sogol, PhD, RPh, FAPhA is the Director for Postgraduate Education and Continuing Education at the University of Wyoming School of Pharmacy. His responsibilities include directing the Master of Science in Health Services Administration program. In addition, he teaches in the program and has responsibility for ACPE approved continuing education programs offered through the University.  Mr. Sogol also has responsibilities to foster collaborative relationships with other departments within the University and externally to the University regarding professional educational program development and collaboration with other groups such as medicine, nursing, and other allied health professions.  He also serves as the school’s delegate to AACP for the 2022 – 2023 academic year. Prior to this role he was the Senior Vice President for Strategy for Pharmacy Quality Solutions (PQS).  Prior to joining PQS, Mr. Sogol held positions in the Healthcare Professional Services group for Target Corporation. His responsibilities included strategic planning, patient medication quality and safety review, clinical services development, relationship management in healthcare, clinical pharmacy education services, and pharmacist and technician clinical educational training and programs.  Prior to these roles Mr. Sogol was the pharmacy manager at a Target pharmacy.  He has also held positions in academia at Campbell University School of Pharmacy and the University of Illinois-Chicago. In addition, he held leadership positions in the corporate and R&D divisions within Glaxo Smith Kline.  Mr. Sogol co-authored the books “The Good Pharmacist; Characteristics, Virtues, and Habits,” and “The Good Pharmacist; Enhancing Pharmacy as a Ture, Clinical, and Paid Profession.”

James A. Trovato, PHARM.D., MBA, FASHP  

Professor and Vice Chair for Academic Affairs at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy

JAMES A. TROVATO, PHARM.D., MBA, FASHP ([email protected]), is professor and vice chair of academic affairs at the University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore. He also serves as the pharmacist research advisor for the Pharmaceutical Research Computing (PRC) Center in the Department of Practice, Sciences, and Health Outcomes Research and Administrator for Continuing Education, University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. Trovato has a demonstrated history of leadership and management in pharmacy education. He is skilled in oncology therapeutics, instructional design, clinical pharmacology, and curricula development and assessment. Trovato completed a B.S. in pharmacy from the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, Pharm.D. degree from Purdue University, and an ASHP accredited oncology residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio.

Barbara Ellen Maguire Vick, JD, PharmD, BCSCP

Associate Executive Director, North Carolina Board of Pharmacy

Barbara Ellen Maguire Vick, JD, PharmD, BCSCP attended the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated with a degree in art history in 1995. Ellen then spent time in Boston and Memphis before moving to Athens, Georgia where she earned a law degree from the University of Georgia, School of Law in 2003. Realizing that she wanted to become more deeply involved in health care, Ellen matriculated at the Eshelman School of Pharmacy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill where she earned a Pharm.D degree. After graduating from pharmacy school, Ellen worked as an operating room pharmacist at Duke University Hospital and a clinical oncology pharmacist for Biologics specialty pharmacy in Cary, North Carolina before joining the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy as its Associate Executive Director. Ellen is a board certified sterile compounding pharmacist. Ellen serves as an adjunct professor of Pharmacy Law and Ethics at High Point University’s Fred Wilson School of Pharmacy.

Donald E. Letendre, BSPh, PharmD, FASHP

Iowa City, Iowa, USA (Chair) | Dean and Professor, University of Iowa, College of Pharmacy

Dr. Letendre is Dean and Professor, University of Iowa College of Pharmacy.  Following completion of his Doctorate in Pharmacy and clinical residency at the University of Kentucky, he served as Assistant Director and Assistant Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center; spent nearly two decades on the staff of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) serving, for much of that time, as Director of Accreditation Services; and, was Dean and Professor at the University of Rhode Island and Executive Secretary of the Rhode Island State Crime Laboratory Commission immediately prior to his responsibilities at Iowa. As a clinical practitioner, educator, association staff member, and now academic administrator, Dr. Letendre has been privileged to serve countless students and postgraduate residents throughout his career, and has actively participated in the development and implementation of standards that have helped shape pharmacy practice and residency and technician training programs worldwide.

Abdullah M. Alhammad, BSc, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP 

Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (Vice-Chair/Chair-Elect) | Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy, College of Pharmacy, King Saud University

Dr. Abdullah M. Alhammad, BSc, PharmD, BCPS, BCCCP, is an Associate Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at the College of Pharmacy, King Saud University (KSU), Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. In 2017, he held an appointment as manager of clinical pharmacy services and drug information and poisoning center at King Khalid University Hospital (KKUH)-King Saud University Medical City (KSUMC). Over the last eight years, he has served as the clinical pharmacy consultant in adult critical care services and percepts pharmacy interns and residents. He also served as the PGY-1 pharmacy residency program director for three years. He has been the director of the adult critical care pharmacy residency program in KSUMC since 2016.

Dr. Alhammad is a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist and board-certified critical care pharmacist by the Board of Pharmacy Specialties. His research/scholarship focuses on advancing pharmacy education and training, exploring and evaluating pharmacy practices and quality of life in adult critically ill patients.

Joseph T. DiPiro, PharmD

Richmond, Virginia, USA | Professor of Pharmacy, and Associate Vice President for Health Sciences, Virginia Commonwealth University

Dr. DiPiro received his BS in Pharmacy (Honors College) from the University of Connecticut and PharmD from the University of Kentucky. He completed a residency at the University of Kentucky Medical Center and a fellowship in Clinical Immunology at Johns Hopkins Medical Center. He served on the Faculty of the University of Georgia College of Pharmacy for 24 years, as Executive Dean of the South Carolina College of Pharmacy from 2005 to 2014 and Dean and Professor at the VCU School of Pharmacy from 2014 to 2022. He currently serves as Associate Vice President for Health Sciences at VCU.

He is Past President of AACP and Past Chair of the Council of Deans. He is Past-President of ACCP and served on the Board of Regents. He is a Fellow of the College and has served on the Research Institute Board of Trustees He has been a member of ASHP, having served on the Commission on Therapeutics and the Task Force on Science and as Editor of the ASHP Pharmacy Forecast. Dr. DiPiro was elected a Fellow in the American Association for the Advancement of Science.

Dr. DiPiro is an editor for Pharmacotherapy: A Pathophysiologic Approach, now in its 12th edition and the ASHP Pharmacy Forecast. He served as Editor of The American Journal of Pharmaceutical Education for 12 years. He is also the author of Concepts in Clinical Pharmacokinetics and Editor of the Encyclopedia of Clinical Pharmacy. He has published over 250 journal papers, books, book chapters, and editorials in academic and professional journals.

Michael D. Katz, PharmD

Tucson, Arizona, USA | Professor, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science, and Director, College of Pharmacy International Programs and Residency Programs, University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy

Dr. Katz is a Professor in the Department of Pharmacy Practice and Science at the University of Arizona, College of Pharmacy. His practice interests include general internal medicine, endocrinology, HIV/AIDS, infectious diseases, and evidence-based practice. Dr. Katz also serves as Director of all residency-related activities for the College of Pharmacy. He teaches pharmacy and medical students in both the classroom and experiential settings. He has been involved in international education and practice for over 15 years and is the College of Pharmacy’s Director of International Programs. He has consulted and lectured extensively in Asia and the Middle East regarding pharmacy education and clinical pharmacy practice. He is the Co-Chair of the Board of Directors of the USA-Thai Pharmacy Consortium. Since 2009, Dr. Katz has directed the largest clinical training program for pharmacy faculty members and practicing hospital pharmacists in Saudi Arabia.

Sherief Khalifa, PhD 

Dubai, UAE | Professor and Vice Chancellor for Quality & Institutional Effectiveness, Dean, Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls, UAE, and Professor of Pharmacognosy, Faculty of Pharmacy, Suez Canal University, Egypt

Sherief Khalifa received his BSc (Pharm) at King Saud University, Saudi Arabia in 1986, and his PhD at the University of Mississippi (USA) in 1994. Dr. Khalifa was a Fulbright Scholar at Georgia State University in 2001 and accepted an adjunct faculty appointment with the School of Pharmacy, University of Mississippi, from 2001 – 2005. He joined the Faculty of Pharmacy at Misr International University (MIU), Egypt until 2010. Before leaving MIU to join Qatar University (QU), he was Professor and Head, Department of Pharmacy Practice and Clinical Pharmacy in the Faculty of Pharmacy.

Dr. Khalifa joined the College of Pharmacy at Gulf Medical University (GMU) in August of 2017 as Professor and Dean. Under his leadership the GMU PharmD program received accreditation by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation and certification by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE). The Master in Clinical Pharmacy program also received accreditation by the UAE Commission for Academic Accreditation. In 2020, initial accreditation by CAA was granted to the College’s new Master of Science in Drug Discovery and Development program.

In January of 2020, Dr. Khalifa assumed the position of Vice Chancellor for Quality and Global Engagement. In July of 2021, under his leadership Gulf Medical University received international institutional accreditation by the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA), the agency that accredits higher education institutions in the United Kingdom. In January 2023, Dr. Khalifa’s title was changed to Vice Chancellor for Quality and Institutional Effectiveness.

In March of 2024, Dr. Khalifa joined Dubai Pharmacy College for Girls as the Dean of the College. He also serves as Vice Chancellor for Quality Assurance and Institutional Effectiveness and leads this portfolio as the College undergoes transformation into a full-fledged university.

Thomas Paraidathathu, BPharmacy, MS, PhD

Malaysia | Professor of Pharmacy Practice, Executive Dean, and Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor’s University

Thomas Paraidathathu graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Nagpur University, India and a MS and PhD in Pharmacology/Toxicology from the University of Texas at Austin, USA. He started work as a hospital pharmacist and then in the National Pharmaceutical Control Bureau (Malaysian equivalent to FDA). Thomas subsequently served for many years at the National University of Malaysia (UKM). For his service to UKM, Thomas was appointed as Emeritus Professor of UKM in 2016.

Thomas has been involved in the accreditation of pharmacy degree programs in Malaysia and other parts of the world for various accreditation bodies. He is Chairperson of the Joint Technical Committee of the Malaysian Pharmacy Board for a third term.
Thomas was actively involved in the activities of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS) and the Federation of Asian Pharmaceutical Associations (FAPA) and was previously a Council member and Deputy President of the Malaysian Pharmacists Society (MPS). He was awarded the GSK-MPS Pharmacist of the Year Award 2008 and was awarded the FAPA Pharmacy Education Section Award in 2023.

Thomas currently holds the position of Executive Dean of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, Taylor’s University.

Mohamad K. Rahal, PhD

Khyara, Lebanon | Dean and Professor in Pharmaceutical Chemistry in the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese International University

Mohamad Rahal, BSc, MSc, PhD. Graduated with PhD in Pharmaceutical Chemistry from Bradford University, United Kingdom in 1997. He started his academic career as assistant professor in pharmaceutical and chemical analysis in the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese American University in 1998. Dr. Rahal then joined the School of Public Health at the Lebanese University in year 2000. In year 2002, Dr. Rahal was involved in the establishment of the School of Pharmacy at the Lebanese International University where he currently serves as the Dean of the School.

He served as member in a number of regional and international organizations in pharmacy education including the Arab Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (executive committee), FIP-AIM advisory committee, ACPE-ISP advisory group, Arab American Pharmacy Educators, and the Lebanese National Pharmacy Accreditation Committee.

He participated in several regional and international Forums and Workshops on Faculty Development, Curricular Design and Delivery, Best Practices for Planning and Evaluation of Experiential Education, Advancing Pharmacy Education in the GCC and Middle East, Planning Educational Assessment and Curriculum Mapping, Building Sustainable Quality Culture, Planning and Strategy Development.

Jenelle Sobotka, PharmD, FAPhA

Jenelle Sobotka is Professor and Director of the Online Certificate and Masters Programs in Pharmacy Leadership at the University of Cincinnati James L Winkle College of Pharmacy. Dr. Sobotka received her B.S. Pharmacy and Pharm.D. degrees from the University of Iowa. Prior to joining the University of Cincinnati, Dr. Sobotka was Professor and Endowed Chair of Pharmacy Practice at Ohio Northern University (ONU) where she was responsible for enhancing professional leadership development in the students’ curriculum. In 2012-13; Dr. Sobotka served as President of the American Pharmacists Association, and also served two 3 year terms with the Board of Trustees. She currently serves as Treasurer on the Executive Committee of the Academic Section of the Federation of International Pharmacists (FIP) and Board Director to the FIP Foundation. She also is the 2018-19 Chair-elect of the Leadership Development SIG for the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy. Dr. Sobotka has received several honors and awards including the Kappa Epsilon National Career Achievement award, the University of Iowa Rho Chi Honorary Alumni Award, and is a Fellow in the American Pharmacists Association. She has received an Honorary Degree from Western University and was honored as a Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Pharmacy. Dr. Sobotka is also a Distinguished Fellow of the USA National Academies of Practice for health care professionals.

Public Interest Panel

Members of the ACPE Public Interest Panel are individuals that do not have a pharmacy connection that serve as advisors to the ACPE Board of Directors and bring a public perspective to Board deliberations. They meet prior to each ACPE Board meeting and are appointed to 5-year terms.
